The Importance of Drivers Education

Driving is an important and necessary aspect in our way of life, especially in this day and age. Technology has evolved into making traveling by vehicle easier, faster, and safer. However, like many aspects in life, there are pros and cons to this situation.

Yes, driving has allowed many to travel, but it is also the cause of many accidents, deaths, and injuries. This is why it is crucial to educate all drivers about proper driver education. By spreading awareness of the correct rules of driving, many would be made more aware and therefore reduce the number of accidents, injuries, and deaths caused by vehicles and reckless drivers. Steps that can be taken to accomplish this are simple. I believe the solution to this problem is to remind and educate drivers of their responsibilities when on the road. To accomplish this, more signs should be added onto the roads to remind drivers to follow basic rules, such as to stay off their phones, no drinking while driving, and to buckle up. In addition to this, a basic driver’s test should also be issued every few years to refresh drivers’ memory.

Although I have not been in an accident myself, I understand the importance of safe driving because both of my parents have been involved in one. When my father was in high school, his brother was driving recklessly and caused the vehicle to veer off the road and flip over. Although my father was injured, he was able to make a full recovery. As for my mother, her accident happened fairly recently. She was driving responsibly, but sadly, the other driver was not paying attention. He crashed into the side of my mother’s car and caused a few injuries to her but nothing too serious. Thankfully none of them were seriously injured.

In order for me to be a better and safer driver, I can follow many important steps. These include to stay off of any electronics while in my vehicle, keep my eyes on the road, pay attention to my surroundings, and refresh my mind with basic driving rules such as who has the right of way and what the different signs symbolize every so often. To help others, I can stay educated of proper driving education to inform, remind, and enforce to them the basic driving rules.

The main issue I have noticed regarding driving is the lack of awareness of the seriousness in possible injuries that could be caused by simple mistakes or accidents while on the road. If everyone were to understand what a big responsibility driving a vehicle really is, the number of deaths and injuries caused by driving accidents would significantly decline making the roads a much after and better place for us all.
