Driver Advice
The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths is very important to driving safety. For example, learning how to be a defensive, alert, safe driver is superficial to not only yourself but others too. By being a cautious, safe defensive driver, you can promote better driving skills. Being a defensive driver means that you are not swerving in other people’s lanes, you go the correct speed limit, and you use your signals, and merge or switch lanes when its open. Being an alert driver means you are checking your mirrors, paying attention to your surroundings, and even to the cars ahead. It is important to see what is going on in front of other cars in your lane because if for some reason the driver in front of you isn’t paying attention you can give yourself enough time to react. A safe driver I would say too is someone who isn’t picking up their phone while driving. a safe driver is someone whose full attention is on the road and not to a device. This is super important while driving because accidents can happen in literally seconds. By keeping your eyes on the road, and being a alert, defensive driver can help to prevent any accidents. Things like staying off your phone, going the correct speed limit, using turning signals, and keeping two hands on the wheel are just some basic things that you can do to prevent an accident. The less accidents there are, the less chances there are for a person to die from an accident. One of the major things that I think contribute to accident deaths are drunk drivers. The death resulting from the drunk driver dying, or another person who’s a victim of a drunk driving accident dying are still deaths related to driving. If you have something to drink, call someone who is sober to come pick you up, take an uber or another form of transportation home. It is not smart to risk driving under the influence of anything because you are then putting yourself and others at risk. I personally as a driver have never been in a car accident, but I have been in the car while another driver was driving and we were in an accident. No other cars were involved, but someone or something knocked a rock the size of two fists together off the top of an overpass and it landed on our windshield. This happened about six years ago on the garden state parkway, and luckily my dad was able to control the vehicle, and pull off to the shoulder. No one was driving irresponsibly, and for that reason, we are purely lucky that everyone was okay. Things to remember when it comes to driving is not to panic. Stay alert to your surroundings, use the correct signals at the right time, give proper spacing between other cars when stopping, and follow all road rules when driving. Now accidents can still happen, but by doing your part in being a safe driver you can prevent causing an accident.
