The Importance of Driver’s Education

If more people were more educated about driving then it would reduce deaths because people would know what to do when they get into a car accident. Most people feel as though they’re an expert at driving when in reality they’re mediocre drivers. Getting into a car accident is a scary thing and most people don’t really know what to do in the situation and they panic and try to move out of the way which could inevitably make things worse.

In all honesty the steps to reduce the number of deaths by driving are what they’ve always been, don’t drive if you’ve been drinking or smoking, have you undivided attention on the road, drive like you’re in a car and not in an airplane. Most people know these things but many chose to ignore these suggestions because they feel as though they’ll be fine and it would never happen to them. People need to drop these bad beliefs because it can happen to you even though you take the basic precautions you should always be serious about driving because not only could you seriously injure yourself and passengers in your car but other people on the road. People shouldn’t be so lenient about driving because it’s a dangerous thing.

I’ve never personally been in a car accident but while my mother was pregnant with me she got into a pretty bad accident. My father is a professional truck driver and he’s been in multiple accidents while in both his truck and regular car. My father is a good driver but when he gets in a regular car he forgets that he’s not a big truck so he tends to speed really fast and hits his breaks really hard. There have been multiple times where I was in the car while he’s driving and he’s been buzzed, when I tried to tell him that he should take a nap or stop drinking and he always tells me that he’s fine and that he’s a professional driver and that he knows what he’s doing. I don’t think he understands how I and other passengers feel when he drives buzzed, it’s a really uneasy feeling of watching him drink more and seeing him not completely focused on the road. He also texts or changes songs while he drives and it’s really annoying because he slowly eases out of his lane and I have to yell at him to pay attention. I’ve never understood how people can be on their phones while they drive because if it were me I wouldn’t be able to focus on anything other than driving. Maybe because I’m still new at driving and I don’t have my license but I’d only be able to focus on the road. I know how he feels to be in a car with someone who isn’t focused on the word and I’d never want anyone to feel like that with me driving.

As a new driver and as a person who knows what it feels like to be in a car with the driver not focus solely on driving I’ll never make those mistakes. I will never get behind a wheel and know that I’m intoxicated because I don’t want to be the cause of my or any other person’s death. I will focus on my surroundings, the traffic signs, I will not be pretending that I’m driving an airplane down streets that I’ll be within the speed limits. As a driver I will do my best not only for me but the other people on the road.
