Importance of Drivers Ed
I have only been involved in one car accident in my life. I was stopped at a stoplight on my way to a friend’s house, and I thought that the light had turned green. I let off the brakes and rear-ended the car in front of me. What had happened was the turning lane light turned green, but the light for my lane was still red. I had spaced out and confused the two only for a second before the accident occurred.
I remember feeling instant guilt and was hoping that the people in front of me were not injured. It was a minor car accident so no one was hurt, but the thought of that scared me so much and I did not want it to ever happen again.
I had previously taken a drivers ed class and taken the necessary steps to obtain my license. I was not speeding or driving recklessly. I had spaced out for only a second and got into the accident.
Drivers ed is important to those who can and cannot drive. Knowing the rules and safety features that come along with driving will help reduce the number of car related injuries and deaths tremendously. Taking a drivers ed course and following the rules of the road are simple steps that can be taken to keep everyone safe on the road.
Knowing your surroundings, weather conditions, and remembering your education from driving courses are simple, yet crucial, steps you can take to be a better and safer driver.
