What is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving? What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving? Have you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly? What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?
I grew up without grandparents due to irresponsible drivers. They both were killed it car accidents before I was born, both attributed to impaired drivers. My husband has been in many car accidents, he is a racecar driver. He began racing when he was twelve and learned to drive on the track. When it was time to get his license, he already knew how to drive and did not take any classes. The rules of the road are very different than on a racetrack and throughout the years we have re-taught him how to drive. If there were more rigorous tests, requiring drivers ed, maybe there would be less people like myself that have to grow up without family. I avoid driving during hazardous conditions due to fears of accidents. I know my limits as a driver and my driving capabilities. I do my best to avoid situations that would make me uncomfortable while driving. I am an advocate for safe driving and always remind drivers what is appropriate and what is not while driving.
