Driving is a
privilege a lot of people take for granted. It’s not often you’re
driving and think YOUR going to get into an accident, you’re just
focused on getting to your destination quickly. Watching the people
around helped me learn the things that I won’t do whilst driving.
I’ve only ever been in one accident and it was minor. It showed me
that you not only have to drive for yourself, but others as well.
Sometimes people are so caught up in their life and don’t focus on
the road so you have to not only protect yourself but them also.
There are always easy ways to prevent accidents from happening, if
you’re in the car with a parent or friend tell them to put their
phones down and focus on the road. I know people think it’s an
annoying saying but realistically that’s how many accidents are
caused. This has happened to me a countless number of times, my
parents love to use their phones while driving and sometimes it’s a
little nerve wracking and I’m always on edge. My godmother will
often say to me “Janira I got it” but just that quick you could
lose control. Sometimes people are just careless, for instance, I’ve
been in cars with people who just drive with their knees. It’s a
difference of accidental mistakes but that’s an obvious no. When
I’m in the car I could make sure I always put on my seatbelt
because oftentimes I forget. It’s one of the biggest ways of
protection from death in a car but we’re so forgetful of it. Also
there’s no need to have music so loud while you’re in the car
because it can take your attention from the road. One minute you’re
rocking out to Beyoncé and the next thing you know your car is
getting upside down in the middle of the highway. We have to focus on
our surroundings to keep ourselves as well as others safe to avoid
accidents and it’s important we stress these to the people around
us.
