The Power Behind the Wheel
Driving a vehicle can be very dangerous. You have the ability to severely hurt or even kill everybody in the car, including yourself. You need to do everything in your power to make sure that when you are transporting others, you keep them as safe as possible.
Some things that could keep you from keeping everyone safe are getting behind the wheel while you are intoxicated, texting or talking on the phone, trying to reach for something in your car, eating and drinking while your vehicle is moving, driving while you are upset or mad, etc.
When you are driving while intoxicated, you not only are breaking the law, but you are making everyone in the car and on the road vulnerable to being killed. You are not in the right state of mind and your ability to think and act for yourself is totally out of your control because you decided to get behind the wheel while you had been drinking. You have blurred your vision, canceled your decision to think and act straight, and you are very distracted and can even be very fatigued. There is nothing good that comes out of drinking and driving, so I’m not sure why people decide to do it. Some people may decide to do it because they don’t want to get into trouble with their parents, but getting in trouble is way better than killing someone and then having to deal with the consequences by spending your time sitting in a jail cell.
When you are driving, you need to pay attention to the road and cars around you as much as you can. It is very hard to always be 100% aware of everything around you, but you need to make sure that you are paying attention, so that everyone stays safe. When you reach for things in your car, you not only could turn your wheel on accident, but you could completely swerve off the road and accidently hit a car or go into a ditch. Your main goal when you get behind the wheel should be to keep everyone in the car and all other cars safe. Do everything in your power to keep people safe on the roads.
When you eat and drink while you are driving, that is just another distraction that can cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Try your best to avoid eating and drinking while driving as much as you can to ensure that people will stay safe.
Another big problem that causes a lot of deaths and accidents is texting and driving. Texting and driving is illegal and it is so unsafe. So many things could happen while you are looking down at your phone for just a couple questions. When you text while driving, your attention and awareness is lossed by a total of 40%. That is a very high percentage, so lot’s of things could go very wrong very quickly. When you talk on the phone, your attention and awareness also goes down a lot. When you are talking, you aren’t paying attention to what is going on around you, as much as what the person on the phone is saying.
Driving when you are upset or angry is also not very safe. Your emotions can be exerted towards your driving and that could hurt someone very badly. A car could be considered a weapon in a way. You have the control to kill someone, so when you are mad, your madness will go way up and give you even more of a reason to be careless.
Some ways that could prevent you from doing these things are turning your phone on do not disturb, have one of your passengers help you out by texting someone for you, set up a designated driver for you when you know that you will be drinking, eat and drink while you are stopped and when your car is in parked, and make sure you are comfortable and in a good mood before you start driving.
In conclusion you need to do everything in your power to keep yourself and everyone else around you safe. There are many precautions and steps you can take to ensure that you are safe. Do the right thing, not the dumb thing. I’m sure that everyone would rather have you be safe than try to rush something that is not worth rushing. Be a saver not a killer.
