Driver
education is one of the best ways to prepare new drivers for the
road. These classes save lives everyday. A person can learn from the
class the lessons they will need in order to keep themselves, their
passengers, and everyone on the road around them safe. People who
took these classes before receiving their licences are safer drivers
than those who did not. A step that can be taken to reduce the number
of driving-related deaths is that it could be required to take a
drivers ed class, whether online or in person, to receive their
licence.
A
relative of mine did not take a drivers ed course, but instead
waited until she was of the age where she could just receive it.
Since then, she has been in countless accidents and even more
incidents than could have been easily avoided. Incidents such as the
time where she drove two miles in town without knowing that she was
pulling a camper behind her husband’s truck. This could have been
avoided if she would have learned the importance of adjusting her
seat and mirrors before she started driving (a lesson that is taught
in drivers ed). I really wished that she had taken these
classes!
There
are many steps one can take to become a better, safer driver on the
road. The obvious one is to take a drivers ed class. Another
one is that one could practice in different scenarios what could
happen. For example, when the first snow of the year comes, one could
practice driving on ice in an open parking lot. The person can also
remove any distractions while they are driving. A good example of
this is that when they get in the vehicle, they can toss their phone
in the back seat. This is a good example of removing distractions
because they know exactly where their phone is, and if it goes off,
the driver will not be tempted to look at it since it is too far out
of reach. These are some of the examples of steps that can be taken
to help someone become a better, safer driver on the road.
