Drivers
will be more likely to want to prevent road accidents from happening
once they are more knowledgeable of how quickly and easily such
accidents can occur. Educating new drivers on past accidents and the
importance of road safety is necessary, so when they get out on the
road they are maintaining a safe environment for themselves and
others. There are many distractions and outside factors that can come
into play while on the road. It is important to be educated and
prepared for such events so that the driver is ready when behind the
wheel. I was driving to school one morning when I most unexpectedly
got into an accident. Fortunately I was unharmed and driving alone,
but had crashed my car due to the reckless driving of another. The
situation occurred because an oncoming car was speeding around a
blind corner on my side of the road, causing me to swerve out of the
way and hit my car against a wall off the side of the road. The
accident could have been avoided if the driver had been abiding by
the speed limit and taking precautions on winding roads. Always obey
traffic and road laws including speed limits because it is better to
take your time and be safe than sorry. In the long run slowing down
and focusing on surroundings is smarter than trying to rush to your
destination because of how quickly and easily something could go
wrong. Staying focused on the road with hands on the wheel and a
clear view can prevent you from getting into an accident and
seriously injuring yourself or others. Keeping distractions in the
car such as radios, cellphones and others at bay while driving can
save lives, it only takes a second of your inattentiveness to create
a dangerous scenario on the road. So be smart, drive safely and focus
on the road that will lead you from place to place for the rest of
your life.
