To a teen, driving
seems like a right of passage. You don’t have to rely on anyone to
drive you places and you can hang out with friends at any time. But
little do teens fail to realize is how dangerous driving is. It is
important to reduce the number of driving deaths because car
accidents are the #1 leading factor in deaths of teens. Many
different things can prevent driving deaths. If more people put their
phones down while they’re driving that would help. Another thing that
we as drivers can do is wear seatbelts. There are many cases where
people in car accidents are ejected from the vehicle because of the
failure to wear seatbelts. Seatbelts are made to protect us in the
event of collisions. It doesn’t take a lot of time to simply click a
seatbelt. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was killed in a car
accident. Not wearing a seatbelt resulted in her death. Every time I
drive I am reminded of this accident. To prevent things like this
from happening I always assess myself before driving. I make sure my
seatbelt is on, there is no one in my surroundings that I can harm
and that my car correctly equipped and safe for me to drive. I always
remind others to do the same things I do when it comes to driving. We
as drivers have to remember that driving might be a privilege but
driving can also be a danger.
