Importance of Safe Driving
I took driver’s ed, I was told by my teachers the same statement
continuously. I was told that I am not the driver they are scared of.
They could see that I was a good driver, it’s every other driver that
they were scared of. The most important lesson that driver’s ed
taught me was to be a defensive driver.
think that driver’s ed is needed for everyone. I think it should be
required to get a license. Being educated is more than learning how
to drive. It’s also about being prepared for people who do not know
how to drive. The best thing that any driver can do to avoid
potential deaths is paying attention. That may mean many things and
all are equally important. A driver can’t lose focus on the road,
be it by their cell-phone, food, passengers, music, or any other
distractions. Losing focus can be life-threatening. The other most
dangerous aspect to drivers, is those who are driving intoxicated.
This could mean they are either drunk, high, both, or some other form
problems are not easily rectified. The first step is to never get
behind the wheel while intoxicated. If you see someone who you
believe is intoxicated driving around you, the safest thing to do is
to try to avoid them. If you have a passenger in the car, you could
have them call the police and give the plate number to the proper
authorities. The next step is to eliminate all distractions before
you start driving. If you are eating, either finish the food before
you start driving, or wait until you are done driving to start eating
again. Do everything you need to with your phone before you begin
driving, and keep your mind focused on the road when you have
passengers in the car.
have personally never been in a car accident, and I hope that I never
will. I have had family members who were devastated after car
accidents. My father was a passenger in an accident that occured when
he was seventeen. The driver pulled out in front of a semi on a
highway. The crash killed the driver, and my father is still
handicapped due the accident which occurred over 30 years ago.
Growing up and hearing this story taught me how important driving can
is why I choose to drive as responsibly as possible. I know that I
have a lot to improve upon, but I think I know my problem. I feel
rushed when driving, which is dangerous. I need to allow myself more
time before I leave so that I can drive far safer. I think that most
people have this same problem, and I think that we all need to will
ourselves to do better, and to drive safer.
