“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Living with
such a verse in mind allowed myself to become who I am today. My
volunteer experience spans many different backgrounds, from “Walk
to End Alzheimer’s” to volunteering at the local food bank, and
in total I have over 200 hours of service over the past three years.
The reasoning behind such a feat is simple, I like helping others. It
is engraved into my mindset that if you see someone in need, or a
cause that needs fighting for, you roll your sleeves up and jump
right in. What I have been doing and how I live, I believe will
contribute to my success in my choice career, a Combat Rescue Officer
in the United States Air Force. Being someone who jumps right in to
rescue others is my goal, and I am going to accomplish it. The idea
of “forward looking” applies to this because in life, there’s
not enough time to look back, you just have to keep pressing on,
fighting for success and happiness. And if helping others is what
makes me happy, then that’s what I am going to do. I hope through
the actions of an individual as myself, I will inspire others around
me to give their all to others, and helping those around them to the
best of their ability. My experiences have already made a difference,
specifically organizing a food drive that was able to collect over
800 cans to be donated to the Peninsula Food Bank, and I know that
after I accomplish my goals, there will be an even bigger impact left
on the world.
