Good
judgement, gratitude, inspiration; these are all things people spend
a lifetime looking for. Fortunately for me, I gained insight on all
of these things in just one place. Volunteering at the Clara White
Mission greatly shaped my outlook on life and molded me into the
person I am today. I have volunteered for 100 hours throughout the
course of a year. The Clara White Mission shaped my character by
teaching me to judge people on their disposition and not their
background, making me thankful for the life I live, and inspiring me
to help people in need.

Judging
people based on their character instead of their background can be a
difficult

thing
to do. Many times, people tend to look down on homeless people,
simply because they are

homeless.
Volunteering at the Clara White Mission made me realize that no one
human is better than another, simply because of how much money they
have. The people I met at the Clara White Mission were some of the
kindest people I have ever met, and they deserve to be judged based
off of the quality of their character and not off of their
background. The Clara White Mission taught me to judge people based
on their character and not where they come from. This is one of the
most important lessons I have learned, and it has had an enormous
impact on my character.

Spending
time at the Clara White Mission provided me with an overwhelming
sense of

gratitude.
Seeing people, especially children, come into a homeless shelter with
nothing but the

clothes
on their backs was a very humbling experience. The people in this
shelter were the most

appreciative
people I have ever come across in my life. Seeing these people being
so thankful

when
they have nothing really made me take a step back to realize all of
the things in my life that

I
have to be grateful for. The opportunity to help out at the Clara
White Mission made me

understand
how lucky I am for the life that I live.

The
biggest impact the Clara White Mission had on me was that it made me
realize that I

want
to help people in need. After seeing first-hand what it was like for
people suffering, I

now
feel homelessness is an injustice in the world that I need to help
fix. This experience made me more aware of some of the problems going
on in the world and inspired me to strive to help people in need. I
know that when I volunteered at the Clara White Mission, I made an
impact on many people’s lives, as they did on mine. Without this
experience, I would’ve never learned some of the most important
lessons that will stick with me and benefit me throughout my life. I
am so thankful that I got the opportunity to volunteer at the Clara
White Mission, because it shaped me into the person I am today.
