The
Importance of Safe Driving

In
the state of California, you must be at least 15 and a half to
receive your driver’s permit, and you also must attend a driving
school. If you are under the age of 18 you have to have a certain
amount of hours driving behind the wheel with an instructor before
you get your license. In order to get your license, you must be at
least 16 and you must have had your permit for at least six months.

The
importance of driving education in reducing the number of deaths as a
result of driving is that it can help so many people. Many of kids,
teens, and adults have passed away due to car crashes. If we have an
educational class to help reduce the number of deaths it would be
something good in the world. The steps that can be taken to reduce
the number of deaths is to not be distracted by driving. You can get
distracted by your phone, eating, etc. When driving try to not touch
other things but the wheel. If it is an emergency, then pull over to
the side of the road and take care of it before going back onto the
road. Thankfully, I have never been in a car crash before, but I have
seen some friends drive a little too much over the speed limit at
times. In order to be a safe driver, you should be clear of
distractions. If you were texting someone before you started to
drive, you should text them and let them know that you are about to
start driving and you can text them once you get to your destination.

Sometimes
you can get tired, which also affects your driving. If that ever
happens you can ask someone else to drive or pull over to the side of
the road and take a power nap. If there is a gas station near-by,
which there usually is one, then go get yourself some coffee to
hopefully wake you up. You can listen to music to wake you up but be
sure to stay safe and focused. Another way to prevent car crashes is
to check your surroundings every now and then. You should always be
at least one car length away from the car ahead of you so that you
have enough time to stop or slow down smoothly. If the car in front
of you abruptly breaks and you are not at a good distance that can
cause you to crash. Check your surrounding because there might be a
driver driving under the influence which can cause a crash. If you
see someone that is driving unsafely call the patrol cops so they can
check that you will be safe, along with everyone else. Harsh weather
conditions could also lead to collisions. If you are driving in rainy
or snowy weather be sure to drive a little under the speed limit to
prevent hydroplaning, sliding, etc. If it is snowy you should have
chains on your tires to be safe.

Overall,
I believe it is very important that you do everything you can to
prevent a collision. We do not need the number of deaths to increase
because we choose to become distracted instead of focusing on driving
for our safety.
