Save Lives with Educated Driving

The
importance of drivers ed is to make the roads safer to drive
on. It helps new drivers learn more details and it provides more
experience at driving. You also learn to be a responsible driver, as
well as becoming more aware of the potential damage that an accident
can cause. Overall, one of the reasons drivers ed is put in
place is to attempt to reduce the number of driving related deaths.

There are
many safety steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving, I will discuss a few. The first step would be to
take take driving education courses. Secondly, seatbelts must be used
at all times, regardless of how long or short a car trip may be.
Equally important, always ensure children are securely fastened in
their appropriate car seats, in the rear of the vehicle. Next, do not
drive impaired, whether it is by drugs, alcohol, or any substance. In
addition, pay attention to the speed limit and obey it. Finally,
drive undistracted, meaning do not touch your phone, the radio, or
anything else that can take your eyes off the road. The importance of
being a safe driver can never be stressed enough. I know this because
I felt very confident in my driving abilities until one day when I
was on my way home from school.

It was
Wednesday around lunch time, and I was messing with the radio and not
focusing all my attention on the road. I was not driving
undistracted. I was about to turn into my driveway, and I did not see
a car coming, so our two cars collided. I was very grateful that I
walked away from the accident, and so did the other driver. This was
so, because I was wearing my seatbelt, and so was she, which played a
huge part in us not being harmed as badly as we could have been if we
had not have followed that safety step. Since then, I have always
thought about what if that did not happen. What if the other driver
did not walk away or what if I did not walk away? You never really
understand what people mean when they say how awful an accident
really is, and that is true because I did not fully understand until
that day. If you have never been in an accident, then you do not ever
want to be in one, trust me. That is why the steps I mentioned above
are so important as well as becoming educated on how to be a safe
driver.

To become a
better and safer driver, you can educate yourself and follow the
safety steps. To help others become safer on the road, you should
educate them on the safety steps and encourage them to take driving
education courses, if they have not done so already. However, if they
have already done so, it would be a good idea if we all took
refresher drivers ed courses. You can never be too safe when it
comes to your life and the lives of others.
