Why is it important to drive
safe? Simple. It’s important because it could prevent a car crash.
Many people don’t know but car accidents are the reason a lot of
people die, but they don’t have to be. They could be prevented by
following these simple steps. First, don’t text or call while
driving. Of course everyone knows that texting is something you
shouldn’t do because it takes your attention from the road, but
answering a phone call does just as much damage. According to
statistics 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is
caused by texting and driving. This just goes to show that a simple
text saying “hey” could cause a horrific car accident. Secondly,
always wear your seatbelt. A seatbelt is not in your car for nothing,
it’s not there to just look pretty. A seatbelt prevents you from
flying out the window, if you don’t wear a seatbelt you’re
potentially putting yourself at risk, because you never know would
could happen. Thirdly, before getting into your car, examine it.
Meaning check to see if your lights are ok, check to see if your
tires aren’t flat, and check to see if you need any fluids, etc.,
but always be prepared before hitting the road.

No one’s perfect and car
accidents happen, but never forget why it happened and always learn
from that experience. I remember back in 2006 I was about 6 years
old, and my mom was driving us to a birthday party for my cousin.
I’d say there were about six people in the car. We were late for
the party, so she started to speed because she wanted to make it in
time. None of us thought a car crash would happen, but we got a taste
of reality. My mom had crashed into a big eighteen-wheeler, and it
smacked the right side of the car. Luckily the car didn’t flip
over, but there was definitely a big dent, and glass went flying
everywhere. I was sitting on the right side and I had got some glass
stuck in my right eye, and that’s why as of now my vision in the
right eye is isn’t so good, but that’s not the point. The point
is that it could’ve been prevented. Why did it take a big car crash
for my mom to finally realize speeding wasn’t worth the lives of
others? Even if no one died somebody could’ve.

All in all, prevent what can
be prevented. Don’t try to be cool by not using a seatbelt, drive
with both hands on the wheel, because you’re much more cooler if
you know how to drive good. Follow the rules when you’re on the
road, because if you don’t you’re not only harming yourself but
you’re harming others. By the driving safe you’ll be glad to wake
up tomorrow, you’ll be glad that you followed the rules, as matter
of fact, you’ll be happy that you did what was right you and for
your community.
