Name: Hannah Zaslansky
From: Manhattan Beach, CA
School: Mira Costa High
I am passionate about service– so much so, that I have been awarded
the highest level of the United States Presidential Service award
three times, for the 100’s of hours of volunteering I have done
throughout high school.
I am also involved
in community activism and inclusion efforts. A few years ago the
house of my friend, Machai, was firebombed. Machai, an African
American, lives in Manhattan Beach which is predominately white. This
act of aggression was simply unacceptable. In response, my friends
and I organized a community gathering to say “NOT IN OUR TOWN.”
Over 700 people gathered in our town square.
I plan to continue
my philanthropic and community activism work throughout my life. I
hope we can collectively make this a better world.
