work is a part of what I do every week. Each week, for two hours, I
volunteer at my church helping run the sound system. I choose to
volunteer here because I felt that my church was in need of
assistance and I was the right person to help run the sound system. I
wanted to make sure I helped out the church as much as possible. I
volunteer for two hours each week. That totals to eight hours a month
and ninety-six hours a year. My responsibilities for my volunteer
work is that each Sunday I have to go to the church at 8:00 and
program the sound system to play the songs planned for that week.
Then when church starts I have to project the songs onto the
projector to play for the congregation. Some of the challenges from
volunteering are that the songs are not always wrote into the
bulletin right so I have to look up each individual song instead of
just typing in their page number. It is also hard when I am not at
church a week no one else knows how to operate the system. From my
volunteer work I have learned how to be responsible and I have
learned that if I do not do something it will not get done.
at the future I see this volunteer work is forward looking because it
taught me how to be responsible and to think of others before myself.
Forward looking to me is how is volunteering preparing me for the
future. If I were to come back twenty years later I do think my
volunteering would have made a difference. I think this because I
have helped out my church by filling a position that no one else
would do and I hope that my stepping up would inspire someone else to
do the job.
