A
3,497 Pound Object and Your Responsible for Its Movement

What
do you think of when you hear the word car? Transportation?
Independence? Fun maybe? All these words arguably sum up what a car
is, but let me throw in a word you may not be expecting. Weapon,
because that's exactly what a car can be if you don't use it
responsibly. Through the privilege of having access to such a modern
wonder as a personal vehicle, it can be easy to forget we are
controlling an object that on average is 3,497 pounds. Yes it can get
you to places you want/need to go but as a driver, it's important to
keep in mind that it can also harm people. It can physically harm
you, others in the vehicle, and people outside the car. It doesn't
even stop there because it can emotionally hurt your friends/family
if it ends up hurting you. I know you may be telling yourself that
the chances of you getting into an accident are low but any low
chances have a potential of being true when you take the risk every
day. Every time you make the choice to drive your car you’re taking
the chance of getting into an accident. Which is not too say that you
should be scared to drive but it is a thought that should make you
more careful when it comes to moving on the road. Dotting your I's
and crossing your T's, making sure all distractions are away from you
while driving and not operating a vehicle while under the influence.
These are rules you must follow in order to keep yourself and others
safe, because it's not worth a life being lost because you didn't.
