Driver’s education is very important as it keeps future and current drivers aware of the rules of the road and the safety measures that come with it. I believe that a strict drivers’ education course should be implemented in the final year of high school. If a student fails to pass this course, they should not be eligible for taking a driver’s test. They are free to take the course again online, but they must pass it in order to make it to the next steps. In my own experience, even though none were major or life-threatening, I have seen with my own eyes, mainly young drivers making careless mistakes that put their own and others' lives at risk.

Driver education plays a crucial role in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. By teaching young and new drivers the rules of the road, proper driving techniques, and the importance of safety measures, we can create more responsible and aware drivers. This education helps prevent accidents by ensuring that drivers know how to react in various situations, understand the consequences of reckless driving, and are better prepared to make safe decisions on the road.

One of the key steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to make driver education mandatory for all high school students. By incorporating a comprehensive driver education course into the high school curriculum, we can ensure that every student receives the necessary training before they are allowed to take their driver’s test. This course should cover not only the basics of driving but also more advanced topics such as defensive driving, handling emergencies, and the dangers of distracted driving.

Additionally, stricter regulations should be put in place for obtaining a driver’s license. For instance, students who fail the driver education course should not be allowed to take their driver’s test until they have successfully completed the course. This would ensure that only those who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the rules and safety measures are allowed to drive.

In my own experience, I have witnessed young drivers making careless mistakes that put their own and others' lives at risk. For example, I have seen friends texting while driving, speeding, and not wearing seat belts. These behaviors are not only dangerous but also entirely preventable with proper education and awareness. By emphasizing the importance of safe driving practices through driver education, we can help reduce these risky behaviors and create a culture of safety on the roads.

As a college junior at Mercer University, majoring in Media Studies and Neuroscience I understand the importance of education in shaping behavior and attitudes. My studies have taught me that knowledge and awareness are key to making informed decisions. This applies to driving as well. By educating young drivers about the risks and responsibilities associated with driving, we can help them make safer choices and reduce the number of accidents on the road.

To become a better and safer driver, I plan to continue educating myself about safe driving practices and staying up-to-date with the latest information on road safety. I will also make a conscious effort to avoid distractions while driving, such as using my phone or eating. Additionally, I will always wear my seat belt and ensure that my passengers do the same. By setting a good example for others, I hope to encourage my friends and family to adopt safe driving habits as well.

Furthermore, I believe that peer influence plays a significant role in shaping behavior, especially among young drivers. By promoting safe driving practices within my social circle, I can help create a positive influence on my friends and family. For instance, I can share information about the dangers of distracted driving and the importance of wearing seat belts through social media and conversations. By raising awareness and encouraging others to prioritize safety, we can collectively work towards reducing the number of driving-related deaths.

In conclusion, driver education is essential in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. By implementing a mandatory driver education course in high schools and enforcing stricter regulations for obtaining a driver’s license, we can ensure that all drivers are well-trained and aware of the importance of safe driving practices. Additionally, by setting a good example and promoting safe driving habits within our social circles, we can create a culture of safety on the roads. As a college junior at Mercer University, I am committed to becoming a better and safer driver and helping others do the same. Through education, awareness, and responsible behavior, we can make our roads safer for everyone.
