*skrrrt* The sound
following subsequently in the screeching of metal against metal. My
ten year old hands cover my ears as a reflex to the horrendous noise.
My mom and dad look immediately at the backseat, my sister’s head
is slightly shaken from the jolt but still intact with the help of
her car seat. For me, I am much more bruised as I hit my head on my
dad’s seat in front of me. The motorcycle that we crashed into lays
on the sidewalk, with a dent in its side and its driver gets up come
over to the car. My mom gets out of her driver’s seat and
immediately runs to the cyclist. My dad turns around to look at me
straight in the eye, and told my sister and I to stay in the car. I
immediately rolled down the window to see my parents looking very
distraught and stressed. The San Franciscan cold and polluted weather
greeted me.

The difference
between life and death with vehicular devices can be a matter of
milliseconds; that situation of my mother almost hitting that
motorcyclist could have been very serious had she and him braked
later. The amount of deaths from driving accidents annually easily
surpass the deaths in most wars the U.S. has fought. This explains a
very worrisome problem for the future generations because if this
behavior isn’t corrected soon, those death numbers will increase.
If better driving behaviors don’t occur, the children will learn
bad techniques from their parents.

The best way that I
believe can be taken is ultimately the encouragement of driver
education. I took an online driving course in addition to the one
that I took for my permit. This online course was focused on how to
make harder turns and park in smaller spaces. It was very insightful
for my driving because it allowed me to be more comfortable with
difficult maneuvers. Though it was a simulation, it was god exposure
to it in general. I believe the main reasons that these accidents
happen are from lack of education and exposure, people are simply
forced to make rushed decisions when their driving requires it.

Therefore accidents
can be combated with having driver's be more aware of themselves and
their surroundings. If one sees a driver being confused, it is best
to simply not stress them out by honking or yelling at them.
Following the rules of the road is probably the most basic thing any
driver can do to avoid any problems. It means that one should always
use their common sense to make decisions when needed.
