2025 Driver Education Round 1
Always Wear A Seatbelt
Kevin Morales
Patterson, California
MY EXPERIENCE: Trust me I know that feeling. There were times where even I was guilty of not putting on my seatbelt for example when I was a kid I was about 2 years old I was in the backseat of my mothers car me and my twin brother were goofing around as usual in the backseat one of us happened to have one of our seatbelts unfastened since we had already seen we entered our neighborhood so we got impatient and rushed to take off our seatbelts unfortunately there was a police officer who was watching us in our “fishbowl car” the car had no tint whatsoever you could see as clear as day our seatbelts werent on. My mother was too focused driving to notice that our seatbelts were unfastened so as she was driving into our neighborhood the police car came and blurped her but we were already in our driveway by then officer had issued a citation for safety and not wearing a seatbelt which I understand is against the law the officer had best intentions he was concerned and was doing his job ended up paying $1,500 for not prioritzing road safety at all times that’s a story of our mistake which I had to ask my mother to remind me what had happened.
Loss of a Loved one. All it takes is one of our loved ones/family members to be involved in an accident resulting of critical injuries or even worse death. Unfortanutely it had happened to one of our older siblings had been involved in an incident where they were goofing around in the outskirts of a town and they were in a pickup truck and my older sibling did not have his seatbelt on for whatever reason. Then they were involved in a crash others had bruises and slight injuries while my older sibling had broke his collarbone and fractured his shoulder. All because of a seatbelt could you imagine if he had his seatbelt on he would’ve never had to wear a neck collar and would have been bruised a little. Hopefully he learned his lesson now. Unfortunately not for my cousin in this case of don’t drink and drive DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE PLEASE. My cousin is no longer here because his friend was driving drunk and had crashed in ditch killing my cousin only because he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. His friends now live with the guilt of not telling him to put on his seatbelt and knowing they could have prevented his death.
