When
I started attending my drivers ed class I thought I already knew
everything and didn’t think I even needed to take the class. But
while in the class, there was so much information about how to drive
and everything you have to pay attention to while driving. We were
shown many videos of teenagers who were driving distracted and were
in an accident and not only hurt the other people involved but now
their life is also changed. The importance I learned from this class
is how driving is a privilege and its something that is very
important and serious. By taking drivers ed it teaches teenagers how
by one second of distraction can be the one second you can be the
time to create a wreck and kill yourself and the other people who
were involved.

First
people should start by turning on do not disturb before you get in
the car so you won’t be distracted about any notifications. Second
place your phone in a bag or your cars console so it is at a hard to
reach place so you won’t be tempted to get on your phone. Some
people do need to take calls while driving such as business people,
doctors, or anyone on call for work, and something those people can
do it gets a bluetooth connection from their cars that connect to
their phones. By them using bluetooth they can answer phone calls by
their radio and they won’t have to pick up their phones and cause
risks to themselves and other people.

My best friend was apart of a
really bad wreck. His car flipped off the road into a ditch, and he
had to crawl out of the back of his window. But this wreck was
caused by distracted driving, not someone elses but his own
distraction. He dropped something on the floor of his car and was
trying to pick it up, and he overcorrected the wheel going around a
sharp curve and ended up flipping. Thank goodness he or someone else
wasn’t seriously injured. Driving is something people don’t take
seriously, they think it is something easy to do and they don’t
have to worry about anything. Driving in America is the deadliest
killer among us, especially distracted driving.

As
I have been driving with my license for a year, which a newer driver,
I always put my phone in my book bag or purse while driving so I
won’t be tempted to look at my phone. My phone is connected to my
bluetooth in my car so when my parents call me I answer it from my
car without picking up my phone. Making the road safer for people is
making people more aware of their surroundings and showing them what
can happen from distracted driving. Distracted driving is the
deadliest killer among us and we don’t see that distracted driving
is all around us and in one split second our lives can be changed
forever.
