Being A Safe Driver

Driver education is such an important program as it strives to educate beginner drivers on the importance of staying safe on the road. The program provides videos for the new drivers to watch that show personal stories from those that have experienced life-changing car accidents due to other mistakes while driving. By showing these real emotional stories it adds a sense of connection to the new drivers where they can begin to understand the amount of danger and destruction a car and an irresponsible driver could cause.

As a driver I can help reduce the number of deaths related to driving by following all traffic laws, staying focused while driving, and staying away from substances while driving. I can help other drivers reduce the number of deaths by providing rides to friends who have been around substances and constantly predicting other driver's moves to ensure a safe distance from them if needed.

I have unfortunately been involved in a car accident due to the other driver failing to properly look in their blindspot and pulling into the car I was in. Luckily, there were no major injuries involved and it was an experience that helped me understand how important it is to look at blind spots before switching lanes as well as keeping an eye out for other drivers near me to prepare myself for any mistakes they may make.

For steps to become a better driver, I can ensure that other friends and family, including myself, only drive when we can fully concentrate on the road. If anyone looks tired, has had anything to drink, or is not emotionally stable I can step in and provide other ways for everyone to get home safely without endangering their lives as well as others. By constantly ensuring my car is properly equipped for me to drive. Ensuring that I have my seatbelt on, mirrors are properly adjusted, the seat is at a proper distance, and all distractions are put away. By following these steps we can all help make a difference on the roads and help ensure everyone makes it home safe.
