Drivers ed not only helps to inform young, new drivers about
the laws and skills needed to be a safe driver, but they also educate
those who need a quick reminder or who have waited years to receive a
license. In drivers ed, drivers gain knowledge on how to stay
focused on both the road and their surroundings, which can
drastically reduce the number of deaths that are caused by driving.


There are multiple factors that contribute to the number of deaths as
a result of driving; one major factor being the use of cell phones.
Cell phones are a huge distraction for all ages, not just teenagers.
Hearing a text or Snapchat notification pop up on a phone brings so
much curiosity to the driver because him or her are wondering who it
is from. They cannot withhold from the anticipation and usually start
replying right away. The number of driving related deaths would
significantly decrease if all drivers could either learn to refrain
from looking on their phone or organize a system to where only
emergency calls could be made while driving. By turning phones off
and turning our focus on the road, the number of deaths would be
greatly reduced.


Fortunately for me, I have never been in a car accident, but I have
witnessed some of my family members driving irresponsibly. For
example, my grandma is always trying to read texts on her phone while
driving. She cannot see the screen too well, which causes her to have
to look closely at the phone, which then results in her swerving all
over the road. This could cause a devastating wreck if she were to
hit another car or drive off the road. We can all take precautions to
the road and stop using our phones while driving; a text is not worth
a life.
