As shown by the large numbers of drivers in the United States and the statistics of fatal accidents, thousands of people die each year as a result of different accidents while driving. It is very important that these numbers will lower in the future. Different vehicle manufacturers are releasing various features that allow cars to react to things that a person may have trouble doing. Depending on the state you live in you are issued a drivers license once you pass your classes and tests, and you are given freedom to drive for the rest of your life without having to undergo any other tests ever again. I think that after driving for many years, some people may forget certain rules and regulations for operating a motor vehicle. To try and lower the accidents in the United States, I believe that there should be a system put into place that tests adults on their knowledge and abilities a few different times throughout their life. Sure, police officers do a great job at patrolling and watching over traffic, as well as drivers on the roads and highways, but what is to happen when they are not around? Testing throughout someone's life will keep their skills and awareness up to date. This can limit the amount of accidents that happen each year, before they occur.

I have been a part of a car accident resulting in both of the vehicles being totalled. There were no injuries but an accident like that can leave someone nervous of driving again. It is easy to lose control behind the wheel of a vehicle or to get distracted. Something could happen in a split second even if it is not your fault that led to it. Each person can do their part to try and prevent these accidents before they happen by something as simple as doing frequent maintenance checks on their vehicle to ensure safety while driving. Making sure you stay undistracted and keep calm behind the wheel. Other passengers in the vehicle can also do their part by also maintaining calm and using car features instead of the driver doing so. Teen drivers are involved in more accidents per year than adults, even when they have completed classes, courses and driving tests. Teenagers sometimes do not understand the responsibilities involved in operating a motor vehicle on their own. With less experience than an adult, and most times less skill, it can be hard to avoid these types of accidents that can come upon you quickly. Parents can do their part by teaching their kids different types of scenarios and how to avoid such incidents.

Driving a motor vehicle can be scary, dangerous and accidents can come upon you fast if you do not have the knowledge or skill to prevent them. Each person can do their part to counter incidents before they happen. If each person is tested on knowledge and ability just a few times during their life I strongly believe that the numbers of accidents in the United States would be lowered significantly over a period of time.
