As a young driver myself, I make sure to always drive as safely as possible following all the laws and regulations. I feel though that as we get older, we decide to follow those rules less and less because it is believed that with the years of experience behind the wheel, the less likely we are to actually get into an accident. These reckless thoughts are the reason why most accidents happen. New drivers are obvious because they drive slower, they take longer to turn and they’re a lot more careful. With them on the road, people automatically change the way they drive but that shouldn’t be the case. People should just be safe. So many people text and drive, get distracted by others and forget about the dangers that can occur on the road. This leads to constant news about new accidents that result in loss of life, drastic injuries, or just fear. Driver education is so important in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. It teaches you the laws of driving; what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. Driving is a way of life and a sense of freedom but it shouldn’t be taken lightly. It is so important to understand the possibilities and endangerments that come with driving so that you can be the most prepared because the worst part about driving is even if you are safe, you don’t know about the people around you. That’s why it is so important to share and promote the value of driving safely so that we can lower the rates of car accidents and keep people safe.
It is dangerous but there are many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. First example, always wear a seat belt. You are 45% more likely to survive a car crash if you wear your seat belt. A lot of deaths from accidents are the result of not wearing your seatbelt and being secured. Secondly, make sure to check your car regularly meaning airbags, brakes, lights, engine, etc. You want to make sure your car is reliable for when you’re on the road. Lastly, another step to take to be safe is to wait to drive people in your car until you fully understand the stakes of being on the road and you know that you can be responsible behind the wheel. Promoting safe driving needs to be a higher priority. Personally, I hate driving. I don’t like being the one behind the wheel because I never know what can happen around me. It only takes one mistake to get hurt and it’s scary not knowing the type of people who are around you. That’s why I make sure to drive as safely as possible whenever I am behind the wheel. Being young, there is a lot of pressure to get your driver's license to be seen as cool. It is thought that driving fast, getting in a car with a bunch of friends and just being crazy is awesome; when really, it's not. I see so many stories on the news with families sharing signs of their lost loved ones from reckless driving. It’s sad to watch knowing those types of things could have been prevented. That is why it is so important to understand the value of life and the value of being safe.
As a result, just remember that you being on the road can affect someone else just as much as yourself. Being safe should be the top priority to help reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents. We want the world to be a safer place and that starts with ourselves. Reckless driving can be stopped if we start pushing more to inspire safe driving. The deaths by cars need to stop and that starts with the people behind the wheel. Driving doesn’t have to be as dangerous as it is right now, we just need to pay more attention. Therefore, just always remember to be safe and control how you drive on the road.
