Don't Make It Your Last Ride!

The importance of diver’s education should be critical for students and for anyone try to get their drivers license. Most accidents could be avoidable, knowing that education can save countless lives is huge. Imagine being a mother hearing your son/daughter was killed in a car accident and being told it was due to a lack of knowledge and could have been prevented. This diver’s education will make drivers more familiar with their vehicle and the capabilities of their motor vehicle. Mistakes on the road are always likely to happen but communication can prevent some situation that would conclude in a collision can be avoided from proper driving methodology in every situation when behind the wheel through a strong driver’s education. If people that are trying to get their license learn different ways to handle situations deaths will be avoidable and these are peoples lives vehicles are weapons. Every diver must know the capabilities of their motor vehicles. At the end of the day drivers ed will always be worth it based on the few points but most importantly if one hour of learning can save lives then it will always be important.

Implementation of drivers ed in high-schools, post-secondary and programs for all communities. Making drivers ed a requirement when trying to acquire a driver’s license can help reduce deaths and accidents. Most new drivers are more prone to get into accidents because they lack the experience of how to react in unpredictable situations and this is also in relation to the lack of knowledge about the capabilities of their motor vehicles. Drivers ed can provide solutions to unpredictable situations because new drivers can learn in a safe environment rather then facing these issues head-on. Through studies of common accidents solutions can be made to avoid the worst possible outcome. New drivers will also learn about all the safety features about their vehicle, understanding all safety features of the vehicles can prevent most issues as well. Making drivers ed available for everyone will increase safe driving techniques and every driver will have some form of safety communication between each driver rather than being selfish and just thinking about getting to point “B”, this helps bring a safety moral when driving.

In the beginning of 2018, I was in a devastating car accident. A year prior to the car crash, I purchased my dream car with the help of my dad. I wouldn’t call myself a professional driver, but I had good experience and knew how to handle my car. During the winter I noticed my car wasn’t easy to drive. on February 10th, during a snow storm on unplowed roads, at 1am on my way home from my friends house my car slipped from one side of the road to oncoming traffic getting myself into a head on collision. I was driving a sudden and I got stuck by a heavy-duty SUV. During the crash, I remember waking up to the horrifying crushed front end of my car and the strong smell of motor oil burning my nose, other bystanders were trying to help me get out of my car asking me if I was hurt. I didn’t know how badly I was injured, ambulances came a few minutes right after and took me to 3 different hospitals. I endured a lot of trauma physically and mentally that night. The doctor said I was lucky to be alive. Post-accident, my family was greatly worried for me that night, they had no way to contact me so to them I was missing for 20 hours, frantically searching for me going to every hospital. I couldn’t work and eventually had to let my position go due to the physical demands from my job. Also, I had to re learn how to drive again because I was traumatized by the accident. It’s has been a year since then and I have recovered. I realized this all could have been avoided if I had more experience driving in the snow and learned the maneuvers when your car loses traction.

In order to become a better driver can follow these steps that helps understand situations and helps you get to point “A” to “B” safely

Step 1: Drive with a clear mind, emotions can cloud your judgment

Step 2: keep your eyes on the road, using your phone can lead to death, small mistakes have massive consequences

Step 3: Remember safety first always. When you get into the motor vehicle you must put your seat belt on even if you are with other people.

Step 4: In correlation to the first step if you notice someone driving spontaneously try to avoid them. Let them pass yield the way, trying passively can be the smartest thing to do.

Step 5: As mentioned in the previous step yield the right of way as much as possible.

Step 6: Try to change bad driving habits, for example: when people take left turns they must go to the left most lane when they complete the turn, but they tend to switch to the right lane and if it’s a two lane road the person on the opposite side (of the person taking a left turn) might just go for their right turn. This causes a miscommunication resulting in a preventable collision.

Step 7: Try to plan out your trips. Drivers can check how the traffic is at the time, and drive when there is less traffic or be more cautious.

In conclusion, following these steps as a community will build a form of communication between all driver leading to less car accidents therefore less deaths on the roads. Drivers ed course implementation in order to get a driver’s license will benefit the community as well by teaching everyone proper procedures and teach new drivers how to drive through any situation.
