Never in my life did I think I would get into an accident. Until one day, I was in a car with my aunt and cousin; we were on the way home after tutoring and I was feeling very tired so I decided to rest my head on the side of the door. We were driving when my aunt had to suddenly brake hard and caused the cars behind us to brake as well. Unfortunately, the car behind did not stop in time and ended up hitting the rear of our car hard causing it to lunge forward. Since I was sitting in the backseat asleep, this shocked me because I felt this sudden pain when my whole body also lunged forward and ended up hitting the door when it came back. Thankfully no one was seriously injured but that changed my perspective on what safe driving is.
Some of the most important elements to me when it comes to safe driving is staying alert, being prepared, and taking a hold of your emotions. When you are on the road things are coming at you left and right, you need to be aware of what is happening in your surroundings at all times with your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, prepared for anything that’s coming ahead. Another issue is that some people don’t know how to contain their emotions while on the road. Don’t let your feelings or anger get to you and if you need time to calm down, pull over, don’t get into an accident, and put your life or others in danger. When I am driving, I keep my eyes focused on the road away from any distractions. If I took my eye off the road for a few seconds, something could’ve happened and I wouldn’t have known. Those few seconds are very crucial and I would not want to be facing some serious consequences if something were to happen. Remember to always keep safe when driving, you never know what could happen next.
