Teen driver safety is such an important public issue that we need to be aware of because it can totally end up into such a catastrophic event on those who haven’t lived close to half of their life. It is such an experience to learn how to take the responsibility of taking yourself from point A to point B by yourself at the starting ages. Sometimes, the young teenagers may automatically think that they are owning the road and no consequences apply to them. Teenagers are entering some of the most crucial stages of life such as relationships, responsibility and more and are so clueless to what could possibly happen if not taken seriously. They are so clueless because they have not experienced or seen what could happen if you endure consequences. With some that lack self-responsibility this can lead into distractions, peer pressure, and much more resulting in a terrible outcome.
t is so crucial for the young because they can introduce the teenagers to what can happen to them if they commit something awful. Driving education implements the importance of driving like safety and laws. They show the experiences of other people who experience the dangers of driving to prove to the teenagers that driving isn’t all happy.
Teenagers today are so hooked to what is going on with their relationships and their phones. One of the biggest distractions when driving is your phone, one notification can lure in a person. It can take a second to look at your phone but it can also take a second to end up in a deadly incident. One glance can lead to an ending of a life. Another struggle that teenagers experience, not just in driving, is peer pressure. Peer pressure can lead into such a large amount of stress on a teenager that can lead into a terrible situation. Alcohol plays a big role of peer pressure in teenage life, ending the lives of so many behind the wheel. Teens can overcome these challenges by opening their realization of what can happen if they participate in a life-threatening act. They can open their realization with driver's education.
One Halloween night, I was with a group of my friends getting ready to go to a neighborhood to get the “good” candy. We were all so excited to just be with each other and get the large candy bars. One of my friends recently just received her license so it made it much easier for us to get a ride over to this neighborhood. We all got into her mom’s Range Rover, which she drove, ready to take on Halloween night. The sun had already set so it made the vision a little impaired to the road but not too bad, we were still able to see but be more cautious to the obstacles on the road. We had pulled out of her neighborhood not even 30 seconds into the drive, my friend had hit a parked car in front of a house. She was easily distracted by my friends in the back and changing the AC in the car which led to this accident. Her mom’s car was completely totaled and my friend, who was sitting in the back of the car, had broken her nose from not buckling.
This situation could have been totally avoided from all the habits that were in the car. My friend, Noelle, who broke her nose should definitely be more aware of the dangers if you don’t buckle up and she experienced the consequences of it. My friends and I definitely could have been more respectful to the driver by lowering the volume. Lastly, the driver should have adjusted the AC before she started driving so we did not experience this event. Teenagers need to learn to be more aware of their surroundings when driving because anything can happen if they are not paying attention to the consequences.
Our communities can totally take extra steps into making driving safe for not only teenagers, but for everyone of all ages on the road. Schools should implement more importance of driver education classes and being stern to these teenagers. Driver education should teach families to be more present in the introduction of the possible outcomes of driving to their children. A lot of parents are not involved in the driving aspects. Teenagers need to learn how to be more open to the safety of people's lives out on the road.
