With
the technology that comes with a new car in recent years, we have the
ability to do anything that a person could do, without the person
actually having to do it. Although we now have self parking cars and
autopilot settings, it’s important for the driver to have knowledge
of how to drive a car to reduce the number of deaths as a result of
driving. For example, knowing that death caused by a motor vehicle is
more than death caused by a firearm.
Some
solutions that we could enforce to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving can be speakers that come to high schools to talk
about the importance of a drivers ed or enforcing that
everyone take some driving lessons prior to getting their licence and
having to renew that licence every 5 years.

I
have had an experience of a hit and run where a truck rear crashed
into the car behind me, resulting in that vehicle hitting me. This
was caused by the driver of the first truck being distracted and not
paying attention to the road. As a result, 5 people were affected,
and with more drivers ed, that accident could have been
prevented.

Some
personal things that I can do to be a better and safer driver is to
always look out for the bigger picture. I think that a lot of
teenagers like me think as if they are invincible and nothing will
happen to them, but the reality is that something could happen that
leads you to a life or death situation. With more people looking out
for one another like calling an Uber when you know your friend is
intoxicated or stopping the driver from texting their friend while
you are in the car makes a world’s difference in the end.
