In order to reduce the number of auto related casualties, individuals who wish to receive or renew their licesne should take a course on drivers safety. Driving lessons not only help new drivers prepare for their road skills exam, but they can also teach them safe driving skills. In addition experienced drivers may need some improvement and correcting. Over time they may have developed bad habits behind the wheel or may just want to work on skills they are not comfortable with.
As a child my siblings and I have been in at least two car accidents, resulting in both of my parents becoming more aware of their driving skills. They decided to take the initiative and find what they needed to improve so they would not jeprodize our safety. One of the changes they made was limiting their distractions. My mom did this by making me hold her phone and take care of whatever she needed to do so that she would not try to multitask and distract herself. This is one of the many steps my family has taken at being safe drivers. It is important we all talk with our peers and push this idea on the so that they will want to be safe too.
