Teenage driving is a weird phenomenon. It allows teenagers to go around their area and find a lot of things to do. These things can range from helping out their families by buying groceries, hanging out with their friends, or simply just leisurely drives. But like most things in this world, it comes with a few negatives as well. Teenage driving can be really scary since they are still learning how to drive and can be prone to mistakes. These mistakes can be caused from arrogance on how well they drive, their own ignorance about the speed limit in a particular area, or peer pressure from their passengers which can cause them to make out of line decisions that will make them pay a heavy price. This is why the drivers education class can play such a big role, during these classes these teens will be able to be given hands on experience in addition to having the ability to research what they must do at any and all times while they are operating a motorized vehicle. Those mistakes I mentioned earlier are especially dangerous because they can lead to the death of the driver, the passengers, and even other people if they get hit in the accident as well. The best way to prevent this is to make sure that your teenager is fully ready to drive before you turn them loose. You can do this by taking them on the interstate, the backroads, or any route you feel is a worthy test, and you can give them some sort of a goal to reach. This goal can be anything that you see fit. For example, driving to your local grocery store at a steady pace or going to your friends house while staying inside the lane. Recently, there’s been an experience that involved me getting pulled over by a cop. I did not notice how fast I was going, and then I passed a cop who did notice and got to work. He turned on his lights and quickly pulled me over. He let me know that I was going 56mph in a 40mph zone, but he let me off with just a warning. I could have been in a much worse situation however, because at that speed, i could have hit someone who was simply getting their mail from their mailbox and it could’ve ended their life, I could have hit someone else’s car and caused them to need hospitalization, any incident in general would have been terrible for me because not only would i have to pay to get everything fixed, the cost of my insurance would go up as well, and i do not have the money for that, which means i would have to resort to using the funds in my savings account which i shall need for the future. This experience has scared me to say the least, so now I am constantly making sure that I am going at a reasonable speed because, at any time, I can get pulled over again or I can hit someone else and take a life. Many other teenagers have had this same experience as well, some may learn like I have and have started to drive safer on whatever road they may be driving on, or there’s the kids that did not learn from that experience and continue to drive the way that they do. By continuing this driving habit, this could lead to an accident which will either cost a lot of money, or the lives of those involved. This can be avoided by promoting safer driving amongst young people, you can make sure that they know their area well by making sure they pay attention on the day to day routes. By doing this, they can see what those roads are like and they can see what the speed limit is, that way they know how fast they can and can not go on any given road. Another thing you can do is just simply stay in the car with them until you feel that they are ready to be set loose. Teenage driving is a major thing to be concerned about in modern society, because anything can happen at any given moment, so it’s best that you make sure you know that your teenager is prepared for any and all situations, otherwise you, your teenager, or anyone else they share the road with can be traumatized for life, all because of one bad ride.
