Initiative


The
importance in drivers ed and reducing the number of deaths
as a result of driving is critical. It is very important because
many people are losing their lives and many famlies are being
impacted as a result of these deaths because young people aren’t
paying attention. They seem to be unaware of the importance to make
sure you know what to do when you are behind the wheel and on the
road. The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving is during the driver’s test the driving
instructor can be more strict on what the drivers are doing and/or
not doing and that could help cause less deaths. Also, the amount of
young people that are on the road plays a big part in it because they
could be inexperienced and nervous when the first start getting on
the road to drive. Once main cause of these deaths that has been
emphasized greatly but could use more attention is drunk drivers and
driving under the influence. This is because when you are drunk you
are not really paying as much attention as you normally would be and
could cause an accident. I have never seen my family or friends
drive irresponsibly, but I have been in an accident. My mom was
driving and we were hit by a bus in the rear while we were waiting at
a red light. I think the driver was distracted by his cell phone.
Cell phone usage is another issue for causing deaths on the road.
Driver’s are very distracted by trying to text someone back or just
being on the phone at all. This is because they are not paying 100%
attention to the road while they are doing these things and it can
happen in a second. The steps that I can take to make sure not only
that I am more responsible on the road but my friends and family is
to make sure people are more mentally prepared to be on the road and
behind the wheel. I say this because if your head is not in it and
you are not paying attention then it is easier to let yourself be
distracted by something and if you are distracted, then you can
cause a serious accident which can seriously injure people or even
kill someone which is a big issued in the world today.
