Being an educated and smart driver is extremely important when you’re on the road. Knowing the rules of the road keeps you and fellow drivers as well. Driving is an extremely big responsibility that’s why it’s of the utmost importance that you understand the rules of the road. The reality that a drivers ed class must be taken in order to even get your temps shows just how vital having knowledge about the proper conduct on the road is. By completing drivers education it limits the amount of deaths on the road because drivers understand what is not to be done while driving and how to avoid being in dangerous situations. For example, drivers ed teaches those how to recognize what a one-way street is so that you turn the correct way and avoid a head on collision. It also does a wonderful job at stressing the importance of wearing seat belts to make sure that you have a higher chance at surviving if you do find yourself in an accident. As touched on before, wearing a seatbelt is an easy and proven way to reduce the number of deaths while driving. Another thing that can be done is to make sure that the vehicle you are driving is in good shape and that the important parts of the car are properly functioning like brakes, blinkers, and headlights. It’s also important that you as the driver are in a good mental and physical condition. One more step that you can take to limit the number of both accidents and deaths on the road is to drive defensively. Driving defensively means being aware of what others are doing and predicting their actions to help you avoid an accident. You also need to adjust your driving to the weather conditions. One of the toughest conditions to drive in snow, but it can be managed by driving slower, braking earlier, and allowing more time for travel. Lastly, the most important thing that can be done to limit auto fatalities is to stay off your cell phone while driving!! This is one of the most common irresponsible things that I see my friends do while driving, and the other popular one is not wearing a seat belt. What I can do to on the road to be a better driver is to drive the speed limit and drive defensively. Something that I can do to help those on the road with me is using my blinker so that others are aware of what my intended actions are.
