The lanes meant
nothing while my father swerved side to side. I’ve worn goggles
that simulate drunk vision but who knows what he is seeing right now.
As he enters the highway, the car behind us honks. Most likely
because of his slow pace and swaying movement with the vehicle. On
the highway he starts to merge lanes seamlessly and without concern
for any other drivers. At some point he slams on the brakes. My body
jerks almost jumping out the windshield, good thing I had on my
seatbelt. But then the seatbelt tightens and restricts any movement.
The car ride home seems longer and longer.
