Driving:
In The Blink of An Eye

Independence,
fun, and adventure is everything a beginner driver thinks. Those are
the things I thought once, since I recently passed my driver’s
test. I was proud, excited, and ready to hit the road especially
without having my parents or older siblings in the car with me. From
practicing behind the wheel to studying hard and taking notes from
the hand book, I felt as if I deserved to have my license. Of course
I knew what could happen if you weren’t careful or watching anybody
else since you’re not just driving for you but for everybody else
too. I’ve heard, seen, and been a part of car accidents and they’re
no fun!

In
order to reduce the number of deaths while driving is to strictly
enforce road rules. Some people just give people their license that
don’t even deserve it. It is important to know what is allowed and
what is not allowed while on the road. For example driving while
drunk, not knowing to stop at a red light, using turning signals, not
driving close to the person in front of you, texting and driving,
listening to music, and many more. It’s great to get an early start
on educating yourself and others on driving. Starting students in
driving classes and letting them practice on the road is a great way
for them to learn what not to do and what to do while on the road.
It’s also important for you to study your driving handbook and keep
up to date with the road rules, as they can change. Something very
important to remember is that you’re driving for the people around
you more than yourself.

I’ve
had experience in car accidents, when I’m not the one driving.
However, the most disturbing car accident I know is when my older
sister was in a car wreck with some of her friends. My sister was not
the one driving, but the girl she was in the car with wanted to show
off, or in other words wanted to prove that she knew how to drive.
Everyone knows that you don’t need to fly when coming around a
curve, but she did. The friend ended up losing control of the car and
they went into a ditch, flipped numerous times, and landed head down.
Good thing someone was outside in order to see this happen, cause
that could’ve caused the car to catch on fire. She was responsible
for everyone in the car including my sister, and everyone knew about
it not too long after it happened.

I
can say as a driver myself I can be a little bit more safe as well.
We can all accomplish this together. To become a better driver,
always remember to put on your seatbelt. Also remember to check your
mirrors, lock your doors, and check your surroundings at all times.
Be sure to read the handbook, know your road rules just for your
safety and others.
