Driving
is seen as a fun thing to learn to do for many people. I mean who
wouldnt want to learn to go wherever or whenever one wants. But
there is a scary side to driving a car as well. Cars can also be
weapons used to kill or be killed. Over 37,000 people die every year
from car accidents. It is important for many drivers to know stats
like these when they get behind the wheel.

There
are many important statistics that rookie and veteran drivers should
know. Such as texting while driving is six times more likely to cause
an accident than drunk driving. This means that what you think might
be a quick glance at your cell phone could end up killing someone or
even yourself . Another one is that in 2018 there were 9,378 people
involved in fatal accidents that were a result of speeding. Finally
in 2016 10,497 people died because of accidents caused by drunk
driving. There are many ways that a person can die while driving and
it is important for all drivers to know at least most of these ways
so they can avoid them and try to be the most responsible driver
possible.

There
are many ways that we can reduce death while driving from enforcing
stricter laws to informing more people about the many ways they can
die while driving. According to the Washington Post states that have
seat belt fines of higher than $76 have between 3-6 fatalities where
a driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A study by the AAA found that
drivers ed classes reduced teen accidents by 4.3 percent and
tickets by nearly 40 percent. Education and even your local
government are great ways to help lower car related deaths.

Driving
is a great responsibility that some people arent ready for until
theyre educated about the risks of driving. If we wish to truly
reduce the number of deaths on the road we cannot allow our friends
and family to drive distracted.Whenever my dad attempts to use his
phone while driving I take it from him. If you see them using their
phone while driving or speeding tell them about the risks of what
theyre doing because theyre not only risking their life
theyre risking yours and everybody elses on the road.
