Drivers
education plays a huge part in reducing the number of deaths in
vehicle related accidents. In drivers ed, you not only
learn the rules of the road, but you also get to apply them in real
life scenarios on the road. This not only puts these rules in your
head, but also lets you form a habit of doing them in real life. You
also learn important things for everyday maintenance of your car,
like what to do when you approach, get in and start up, and drive
away each time.
There
are many steps that can be implemented to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. First, they should make drivers ed a
mandatory thing for all drivers unless the person is under special
circumstances. This not only can help them become smarter drivers,
but also save them money on insurance. Second, I think that DUIs
should have stricter punishment on the first offense. I think that a
breathalyzer ignition lock should be used on a person’s car after
the first offense. The persons second offense should result in
temporary suspension of their license, jail time, and fees. The third
time should result in permanent suspension, longer jail time, and
more fees.
In
order for me to be a better driver, I should do many things. First, I
should use the “Do Not Disturb” while driving in order to prevent
myself from getting distracted while driving and while also letting
people know why I’m not responding. Second, I should never drive
when I am too tired or if there are other things that will prevent me
from being 100% focused while driving. Third, is that when I am
driving, I should focused only on the road and the drivers around me.
I will not shift my attention to anything such as music or other
things that will get me distracted until I am at a my destination.
