As I begin to discuss the many reasons as to why driving safely with the proper education, let me first discuss my own personal reasons as to why driving safely is important. I have seen first hand what driving unsafely can do whether it affects the driver, any passengers on board, or even any innocent bystanders nearby. A family member of mine who I trust very much with my life has put me at risk many times. There were times when they’d be driving me around with a drink in their hand as they drove recklessly, nearly missing a car or two, nearly missing a pole or a building due to them also being on their phone. There was even one time when they were exiting out of a shopping center and haven't paid attention to the rode leading a car who was driving very fast to barely miss us but leading the driver to serve in the wrong direction, although we were left unharmed seeing how a close family member can put mine and their life at risk multiple times put me in a state of mind where I can trust them to even drive me down the street. Now I have this friend right, this friend is about 17, almost 18 with no license, no permit, no drivers education course done but yet they are still on the road. If I had known beforehand this friend of mine had no proper education on driving and the rules of the road I wouldn't have stepped foot into their car. Not having the proper education of driving and the road has led them to get into some serious trouble with the law. Once they were backing out of my friend's driveway and made an illegal turn thinking they'd make it only to hit a bus filled with elderly people, not only was it filled with elderly people but the bus was stopped due to them picking up someone in a wheelchair. Now this made me feel differently about my friend because its one thing to put mine and my friends lives in danger but to be so reckless to put elderly people in danger? Now that is insane. It's insane how people's pride can be so high to believe they know everything with anything. Drinking and driving has split my family apart tremendously. In February of this past year the same close family member of mine appeared to be having a rough night which led to them drinking an insane amount of alcohol leading them to barely be able to speak. With so much emotional distress they were already experiencing plus the amount of alcohol in which they consumed they had the bright idea to steal my dads car. At this time in the night it was pitch black and raining, with the heavy rain that was falling this night it led the roads to be very slippery. As my family member was driving under the influence with my fathers car they went down this windy road going down the hill and ended up losing control crashing into another car rear ending them and tolling my dads car and the other person's car. With that in mind I believe drivers education is very important not only for the drivers safety but for any and everyone's safety. The goal of driver's education is not to only help people prepare for written driving test but to also help equip them with necessary skills, and knowledge of the road to help them be able to drive safely in hopes to decrease the amount of accidents on the road whether those accidents be due to the influence of drugs and alcohol or something as simple as someone not paying attention and being on their phone. With the increase of cars on the roads sadly comes an increase of accidents and many of those accidents lead to deaths and it has been reported that many of those deaths were young people whether it be new teens driving or young adults on the road. Drivers education also focuses on practice skills such as steering, braking, parking, backing out, and…. Parallel parking which can be seen as one of the most difficult parking positions. Being knowledgeable on driving helps bring a better attitude and mindset towards driving itself. Now, why does having a positive attitude and mindset towards driving decrease the amount of road collisions? Because when you feel good towards something you are doing, you do it well. Well enough to save yourself, and many around you.
