Driving
safely in a Technologically Advanced World
I
think the importance of drivers ed in the year 2020 is just as
important, if not more important as the years when the technology we
have today did not even exist. It is very obvious in today’s world
that a high number of deaths caused in car accidents are the result
of texting or talking on the phone while driving. I believe that
hands-free safety should be a part of drivers ed before a
license can be given to an eligible person. I think this will play a
role in reducing the number of deaths caused by texting and driving,
if people are made completely aware of its dangers before even having
the chance to get behind the wheel for a test.

I
have been witness to texting and driving and even seeing others
swerving to different lanes because of their lack of focus on the
road. Luckily, I have never been involved in an accident or witness
to one. However, I believe people should also be taught to contact
authorities if they are witness to these dangerous actions that can
cause death. That is a way to reduce the number of deaths, by simply
being aware of your surroundings and contacting someone that can help
if it is seen as necessary.

The
steps that can be taken to practice safer driving really starts in
the process of just being educated on the matters that make these
habits so extremely dangerous. Once people are educated, they should
then take the steps to tell others and spread the word. This can be
done in many ways, through school systems, DMV offices through
drivers’ tests, and even Public Service Announcements through
social media. I think these are the best ways to protect all drivers,
from the newest on the road to the most experiences drivers. The best
way to protect people is through awareness and actions to end these
dangerous habits for good.
