When
we get into a car we don’t
want to have to think about whether or not we’ll
die while in that vehicle, but the sad reality is we do. There are
over 30,000 vehicle related deaths per year and to put that into a
shocking perspective, that’s
nearly a statistic seen from war times. With drivers being educated
on how to simply be safer drivers, it makes driving less scary and
even less fatal for the collective whole. When there is an issue at
hand, the most powerful form of prevention is education. It’s
much like the metaphor of having a hungry man and if you give him a
fish he’ll
eat for a day, but if you teach him to fish he’ll
eat for a lifetime. The same concept applies here with having
educated drivers essentially saving the lives of others.

I
believe that we can take a step forward in making sure that roads
everywhere will be full of educated and responsible people. First I
believe that there should be a stronger push for classes on how to
deal with situational circumstances like rainy roads or vehicle
malfunctions. Then the other issues addressed like strongly
advocating for alternatives to carpooling to prevent drunk drivers,
and anger control for those that drive impulsively. Coming from
myself i have been in the car with friend that make relatively
questionable decisions while behind the wheel. For instance and
illegal lane change or going 30 over the speed limit. I think
teenagers don’t
see just how vulnerable they are to danger even though they have a
mindset of invincibility. Targeting the young will also be a step in
the right direction because that after all it where this will take
root. Lastly, I will do my part to make driving safer by instilling
safer habits in me and my friends. Well always wear seatbelt and
never ever get behind the wheel under the influence. I believe in
numbers we can make our roads safer.
