After many days
in what turned into months finally came the day, I got my license.
The day every teenager looked forward too. Not really knowing all the
consequences that came along with driving, more excited about telling
all my friends about the big news than anything. As I pull out of the
license branch with my father in the front seat of the car is when I
would soon realize how critical it was to know the many harmful
factors that came along with it. Sitting there, listening to what my
father is having to say, as I take everything In and take it all to
heart. Knowing that I have the power to do these many different acts
amongst driving on the road, I continue to drive and instantly come
more aware of what is around me and become the safest driver I could
ever make myself to be.

When starting to
drive the importance of knowing general drivers’ education is
undeniably significant. Being aware of drivers’ education, is and
will be a huge factor in reducing deaths. A study has shown that
being involved with drivers ed will reduce crashes by 4.3%
and convictions by nearly 40%. Being educated with different
techniques in driving will make you a more aware driver and defensive
driver and knowing the consequences of not being educated. With there
being many different steps people can take to reduce the number of
deaths, I believe there are a few that are more significant than
others. First, making a conscious effort to develop driving skills.
Most people believe that when they have their license, they know
everything, which is never the case. You should always continue to
learn something knew while driving, and always be thinking about your
surroundings and what is around you. Secondly, consider what is
needed not only to protect you but others. Such as wearing your
seatbelt can save you and passengers. Along with doing a safety check
before getting ready to drive which can include seat and mirror
adjustments.

One day, early in the morning, three kids were in the same car
heading to school. It was pouring, another car hydroplaned into their
lane hitting their car head on. Two of the kids were rushed to the
hospital. One was pronounced dead on the scene, she was my sisters’
best friend. There could have been actions that could have been taken
to prevent this horrific time in our lives. Actions such as being
aware of the weather and knowing that speeding could result in many
different consequences.

After driving
for 2 years, I know that there are various amounts of steps that I
can take to become a better and safer driver. Steps such as being
aware of my surroundings and not assuming that I know everything when
I clearly do not. This will protect not only me but the people around
me. Driving is an amazing thing, but it is important we know what the
consequences are.
