Many factors affect the number of deaths caused by driving. The first step that you can follow is properly teaching new drivers. This allows the uneducated drivers to learn how to drive safely and helps not only them, but also the rest of the drivers on the road. Another precaution that you will want to consider is to increase the amount of speed bumps in residential areas. Speed bumps reduce the speed that drivers will drive and allows the driver to be more aware of their surroundings, which makes driving much safer for the driver and pedestrians in the area.
I have had an experience with a friend driving irresponsibly, in which I have seen them play around while driving their car while having passengers. They would have music playing louder than necessary and play around while driving. This is dangerous in many different ways. It puts the driver in harm, the passengers at harm, and everyone else on the road. When I drive, I do not play around, as it is not safe at all. I make sure I put my phone away so there are minimal distractions.
One thing I can do to become a safer driver for others and myself is to leave my phone in my bag the entire time when I am driving. Something as basic and simple as quickly looking at a text message from a friend is enough time to distract you from what is on the road and can cause you to crash or swerve to avoid a car, someone in the road, or to stomp on your brakes at a red light or stop light. Something else I can do is to follow a basic rule of leaving space between your car and the car ahead of you. Following speed limits also helps make sure I am the safest driver possible.
