Transportation plays a significant role in many individual's lives. Driving is one of them with many dangers, but in the driver's seat, it can be easy to forget an induvial is in control of the vehicle. Everyone needs drivers' education not only for their safety but out of courtesy of other drivers on the road. Without, uneducated indents like car crashes, speeding, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and others are bound to happen. To reduce driving-related deaths, more steps need to be taken. One step is further education and resources offered to anyone at any stage of driving or learning. Continued education provides for drivers to be reminded and aware of the laws, dangers, and precautions of driving. Also, the prevention and education of impaired influence, whether alcohol, drugs, texting, or drowsiness, needs to be displayed and explained more. Further restrictions around not going under the wheel impaired need to be put in place. Lastly, the use of our eyes instead of systems. Many new cars come equipped with systems that include rear cameras, blind-spot mirrors, and lane departure warning. While this helps in the prevention of road accidents, not everyone's car comes equipped with it, and not everyone uses it. Our eyes are the best at taking in and understanding our surroundings and should come first while taking caution on the road.
I have not experienced being in a car accident or at least one that I can remember. Unfortunately, my family has not had this same fortune. In the summer of 2019, my mom got t-boned. She was taken to the hospital, had her head exam, and had to start physical therapy for her arm. Her car was also damaged in the crash, forcing her to purchase a new vehicle that insurance didn’t cover. To make sure incidents similar to this don’t happen, I assist drivers in any way I can. This includes giving directions, controlling the radio, not being too loud, reminding them of traffic lights, and making sure they keep their eyes on the road. Although I can’t legally drive, I’m learning and will be on the verge of being on the road. While driving, I will be cognizant of the driving laws, my surroundings, and the state I’m in ere driving. If not, I fully acknowledge the consequences of being an irresponsible driver. Safe driving is not only for the well-being of ourselves but for the ones around us who also may have loved ones. Make sure to stay safe!
