The importance of drivers ed in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving would be that you are not just dealing with getting from Point A to Point B, you are dealing with lives, hopes and dreams. Drivers, especially young drivers, should be taught to always drive defensively. This allows them to take absolutely every consideration when driving. If they are driving too fast, they should be able to realize the effect they are having on traffic, and vice versa. If they drive offensively, they are risking their own lives as well as many others. In other words, the importance of driver education is that it helps prevent many accidents from occurring because it teaches drivers what to expect when it comes to the real world driving. The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving would be to have drivers practice defensive skills with instructors. One will be in the car with the student, and the other instructor will be acting like the offensive driver. Of course it will be necessary to practice this in an enclosed course, but actually experiencing what it is like to deal with offensive drivers will give the drivers the experience they need, rather than the knowledge they are taught in a classroom. Personally, I have never been involved in any type of accident, neither have I seen any of my family members drive irresponsibly and I believe that is a good thing because I have always been taught to drive carefully to prevent any sort of accident from occurring. The steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road would be to drive safely and set an example for others to see. Doing everything that the law requires will influence others to do the same, especially if there is a law enforcement present. Making sure you are familiar with your car also plays a huge role in driving safely because if you are not familiar with its acceleration, deceleration, and handling, you are already creating a risk. It is necessary to know your vehicle because that stays in mind when you are driving in certain conditions. For example, if you know that your car does not stop so well when its raining, that already warns you to stop a little before then you normally would behind a car. Simple familiarities like this can help prevent an accident in the long run.
