What is the
importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths as a
result of driving?

Taking driver
education shows the student driver’s different videos of accidents
from minor to fatal incidents. The instructor’s go over all of the
basic instructions and over emphasize on the “Don’ts” while
driving. Most people are visual learners and videos tend to stay on a
person brain longer, this will help in remembering when going out on
their own.

What steps can be
taking to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?

This one is
difficult to answer because even though you have new driver’s out
on the streets every year, you still have the experienced driver that
doesn’t always follow the rules from the driver’s manual because
they have been driving too long and feel to comfortable behind the
wheel. Laws being passed on not driving while on your cell phone may
have already reduced this number.

Have you ever had an
experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or
family members driving irresponsibly?

Yes, I have been in
two auto accidents. The first one was when I was almost 4 years old,
my dad picked me up for the weekend. Irresponsibly, he buckled me in
a no back booster in the front passenger seat of his Ford Mustang.
This was in January and as he was driving he hit ice and we skidded
off the freeway over the median cable separating the freeway. We
landed on the other side of the freeway, facing oncoming traffic. The
second, was with my mom. She was at a stop and we were rear ended.

What steps can you
take to be a better and safer driver as well as helping others become
safer on the road.

I could continue to
follow the driving laws put in place for safety and encourage my
friends and family to do the same. I could try and advocate for
Drivers ed to be more affordable to everyone.
