“Driving is your freedom and
connection to everything” stressed my friend, little did they know
the tragedy from driving when I was younger and all through growing
up. When I was three, I was in a crash, my father claims my saving
grace was the seatbelt on the car seat. He lost his license, he never
clarified to me how the crash occurred or what caused it. After that
came the irresponsible unlicensed and drunk driving from my father.
The constant worry of what will happen. I had experienced all the
fear when I was in the car and the fear for others all the time. The
endless 60mph on a 30, endless tears from next to him begging him to
slow down so no one will get hurt. The thought of driving scared me
and gave me the spurs of anxiety until I thought, I’m better I know
better, what not to do and what to do. Getting my permit at fifteen
was exciting but strange thinking “this is the moment my friend
stressed.”


My uncle will never not remind me
how dangerous our phones are while driving. Always reminding me that
everything can change in a second and I have to be aware of all
possibilities of change at any second while I’m behind the wheel.
Having education on safe driving is extremely important, there are so
my things you have to be aware and careful of. Everyone needs to know
the basic importance of putting the phone down, the text can wait
it’s not worth the possibility of a life or multiple lives being
injured. Posting on social media about where you are doesn’t matter
more than the safety of yourself and others. Make the distractions
disappear don’t get distracted when you’re on the road. Driving
recklessly has caused way too many deaths, people need to change
their driving style if it is unsafe. People are losing their lives
because someone chose to text back, post on social media or even
chose to drink and drive. Parents or loved ones wait for that person
to come home but they come to find out that they aren’t coming home
because all the unsafe drivers out there.


People tend to never take driving
like they should, it’s way more serious than said. Especially with
the teenage group. There’re several lives right there at your hand,
if you aren’t paying attention to your surroundings you or someone
will get hurt. Never look away from the road, don’t look at that
notification, don’t take that call. Don’t put anyone at risk,
it’s not worth it. Phones should have more apps or built in
structures that stop the notifications received whilst driving.
Teenagers are always trying to find the best way to seem cool or be
the center of attention so much that many have resulted in unsafe
driving. Statistics show that teens are more likely to crash than
adults, in addition to that teens also receive more citations.
