2024 Driver Education Round 3
How does Drivers Education Translate to Driving

The first step that can be taken in order to prevent more car related deaths is being more blunt on the consequences. I can not remember the amount of times I have seen people my age fly 30 over the speed limit on back roads. Today the consequences do not set in till it has already happened, since the kids do the requirements loosely. Being more strict on what can happen and how to drive properly will teach them that driving recklessly is not funny and there are deaths everyday because of it. The second step is implementing this into the young adults daily lives. In school we are taught so much about math and other subjects, but not the real world we are facing. Getting programs in school will help educate young adults on the risks they are going to face everyday. The third step is to be more strict on the knowledge needed to get a license. When doing the permit test I feel there should be groups to help people prepare for such knowledge. This could be with after school programs set up to teach safe driving. Doing anything to help push drivers' education forward in and out of school. Also making the Alive at 25 more interesting. When I took that course it felt boring and like the information went through one ear and out the other. Making the class more engaging and tailored to today's youth will help get the safe driving message across more effectively. Young adults now need their attention captured or no information will get through. Trying to implement strategies based on current trends can help center attention more on the topic of safe driving instead of when this boring lecture ends. Being lenient on young adults will only make driving even more unsafe, but trying to push the topic in a more engaging way will help make the roads a safer place.
Personally I have not been in any accidents of reckless driving, but I have had close calls. In my experience I had seen the people around push the speed limit to where they are 20 mph over weaving through traffic. In a few incidents stop lights are a real problem. I have almost been hit multiple times from people on their phone or trying to beat the red light. The amount of times I have seen people speed really shows that they do not understand how it can affect others. When it comes to friends and family they are a pretty safe driving bunch. But a few of my friends like to test their car's ability. This comes from speeding well over the speed limit or accelerating to the cars limit. When this happens I get a very uneasy feeling that we are going to wreck. I have also seen how they are so enticed with their phones that it takes them into other lanes. And even them doing reckless things on purpose to be funny. This just shows how irresponsible they are and how negligent they are to how they affect others lives.
Ways I can become a safer driver is looking at my surroundings better. Sometimes while driving I catch myself looking at my radio or speedometer causing me to lose focus. I also can forget driving past places like I was completely zoned out. For me to be a better driver I need to focus on being alert of my surroundings and my own vehicle better. Ways I can help others become better drivers is pointing out to people close to me how they are being unsafe. When it comes to riding with my friends I need to let them know when they are irresponsible so it does not result in a crash. I will use my drivers education to help teach them consequences for unsafe driving and how reckless driving may cause harm to them. This will help keep the roads safer not just for me, but my entire community.
