How
to Be Safe on the Road

Driving
is one of the best privileges we could ask for. I love being able to
get in my car and drive wherever I want, but I don’t love seeing
other people driving and texting on their phones or getting in
accidents because of hazardous driving. Texting while driving is one
of the leading causes of car accidents that result in a death of
someone in the United States, along with other scenarios. This is one
of countless vindications why we need drivers ed. Drivers
education is one of the multiple helpful programs that teaches
drivers, of all ages, how to be safe on the road.

I
believe that drivers ed is important because it could reduce
the number of deaths resulting from a car accident from distracted
driving. How might you ask? Drivers ed is a program that aids
student drivers by providing the knowledge needed to pass a driving
exam, whether it is for a driver’s license or a driving permit.
Students who take the class have to receive 20 hour credits for the
course before they can pass. With drivers ed students can
learn different driving techniques, safe driving skills, and students
can gain behind-the-wheel experience with a driving instructor.

Why
is safe driving important to me? Safe driving is important to me
because when my Aunt was young she lost her boyfriend to unsafe
driving. Her boyfriend was driving on the highway when he was struck
by a semi-truck and now my Aunt suffers from Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD.) Everytime I go anywhere I take all precautions to be
safe on the road and I always try to remind others to do the same.

Several
steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver, as well as
others, is by first and foremost making sure that all passengers in
the car, including myself, are securely buckled with the seatbelt.
The next step to being a safe driver, is turning off all
distractions, like a cellphone. By turning off your cell phone you
are less likely to pick it up and look at it. Another step you can
take is by following all of the rules of the road, go the speed
limit, slow down when indicated and follow all the signs for safety.
The last step you can take to ensure safe driving is by never ever
driving under the influence. Driving under the influence does not
only lead to unsafe driving for you but it can lead to an unsafe
situation for all of those around you.

The
driver ed program has assisted many people with learning how to drive
safely and what to do and what not to do while behind the wheel.
Having drivers ed can help us in many ways. I strongly believe
that drivers ed can teach us how to be safe on the road all we
need to do is follow the rules of the road and everything that
entails.
